Default Toroweap ride: May 6th, 7th, and 8th

    Toroweap re-loaded for 2017

Possible date May 6th, 7th, and 8th (Saturday, Sunday, Monday)

We will ride all dirt (well 99% dirt) from Las Vegas to Toroweap. Las Vegas to Mesquite is 80-90 miles, gas, then Mesquite to Toroweap is 120-130 miles. We will meet early at the Petro station, I-15 and Speedway Blvd...kick stands up at 0800. We will ride out through Apex, old Spanish trial to logandale trail system (if riders are interested we could take Bitter springs 4x4 scenic road as a change up over last year), Whipple road through Moapa Valley to "Pole line" road then to 170/Bunkerville. Those needing gas at this point can fuel up in Mesquite. Big bikes are welcome to joint us at this point (I willing to put together a mostly dirt big bike ride but it will be intense...I'll ride my GS1200). We will take 242/Lime Kiln Canyon road up through the mountains eventually leading to 5 then to 115 to Toroweap. There is one tricky section early on Lime Kiln Canyon road, for big bikes, then it's well maintained BLM roads to Toroweap.

This will be a three day/two night ride. I'll have a support vehicle or two meeting us at Toroweap which can transport camping gear, gas, food, etc. One day out, one day of exploring (Change up from last year: Ride dirt to Kaibab then to Coral Pink Sand Dune park, take more dirt roads up to Zion NP, pavement to Springdale for lunch/dinner, then we will take dirt roads the long way back to Toroweap...210miles), one day back home.

I will reserve the same site as last year.

    John

Ok, wife is starting to ask me dates that are in stone now, I guess that means we're in. With home office approval of course.

Had a great time last year. Want to go but working that weekend. Would anyone object to changing the date to the weekend before or after? May 13,14,15 or 20,21,22?

I can do either the 6th, 7th and 8th or the 20th 21st and 22nd. This trip is doable on a KLR...we had one on the trip last year. You can ride road to Mesquite or do as much dirt as you can, then take one of the numerous bailout points for the highway.

I would be up for doing this ride twice...once for small bikes and another weekend for big bikes.

I'm up for either weekend. I've done most of the passes in Colorado so I don't shy away from the rough stuff. I find tight single track a little tough to get the pig through.

Early May works better for me rather than the latter dates. Can do little or big bike.

    Hey John,
If you're going to do this twice, can you do the second trip on 20,21,22 on big bikes, or is that too soon to the first ride?
